I’m angry and sad all at once. This story, and others like it provide evidence that all pastors need accountability- by believers who may think differently than they. Too many of these older, well-known, and influential preachers considere women the second class citizens they were before Jesus elevated them. They forget that Jesus broke down the Pharisaical hierarchy when he called fishermen, taxpayers, and women to be his disciples. Grace for the abuser? Where was grace for this woman and her children? I am beginning to think that once a pastor publishes a few books he needs to retire from the role of senior pastor. There evidently isn’t enough heart space for tender-shepherding and fame.
